Ethics Committee
An Ethics Committee was established under the umbrella of Turkish Association of Translation Companies (CID) to establish shared ethical rules and principles and to supervise compliance therewith. The Ethics Committee consists of five full and five associate members with three of the members required to be Member Company representatives. One member must be a member of a Translation and Interpreting Studies faculty and one member must be a translator. Full members elect a chairperson, a co-chairperson, a secretary and two members based on the elections held at the General Meeting, Elected members of the Ethics Committee sit until the next Ordinary General Meeting.
Pursuant to Article 6 of the Ethics Committee Charter, the duties and responsibilities of the Ethics Committee are as follows:
The Ethics Committee:
- Evaluates the enforceable fundamental principles and rules, annexed to this regulation, established by the founding committee, to determine the common values of the members of the Association and, where required, adds new rules or amends or abolishes existing ones. Submits the amended principles and rules to the Board of Directors so they can be submitted for approval at the General Meeting in order to officially include them in the regulations.
- Investigates and examines, either in response to a valid complaint or by virtue of office, whether or not members of the Association act in compliance with the ethical rules annexed to this regulation.
- Carries out a preliminary assessment of the filed complaints. Rejects the filing of any complaint which is deemed not worthy of an investigation based on the preliminary assessment on condition that the relevant reasons for rejection are provided. Takes the necessary steps for complaints worthy of an investigation.
- If required, asks for information from the members of the Association as part of the investigation and assessment. The Members of the Association are required to respond to such requests in writing.
- Finalizes assessments within 30 days at most and submits its opinion to the Board of Directors.
